Answer in 30 seconds

Braze says no action is required for these updates. From 21 September 2026, certain Canvas skips will produce abort logs. Campaigns and Canvas steps targeting segments built only with the ‘Users with no apps’ filter will support sends through email, SMS and webhooks. Push and in-app messages will remain blocked for those users.

In a customer email sent on 10 September 2026, Braze announced two improvements to specific Canvas and campaign segmentation scenarios. The email gives 21 September as the launch date and states: ‘No action is required on your part.’

1. Abort logs for users with no applicable app

Braze describes a Canvas step that targets a specific app when a user profile has a different app. These users are currently skipped without an abort log. With the update, Braze will log an abort event and the users will advance to the next step. The event will be visible in the Messaging Diagnostics Dashboard.

This gives teams a record to use when investigating why a message did not send.

2. Sending support for ‘Users with no apps’ segments

The second update applies when a campaign or Canvas step targets a segment built only with the ‘Users with no apps’ filter. Braze says these users are currently skipped, including for channels that do not require an app.

With the update, email, SMS and webhooks will support sending to those users. App-dependent channels, including push and in-app messages, will remain blocked. Braze says users who were previously skipped may now advance through Canvases and campaigns.

This announcement covers those specific filter scenarios. It does not announce a change to every Braze segment or every journey. Sending still depends on the applicable campaign, channel and user eligibility requirements.

What does your team need to do?

Braze says no action is required. If you have questions or observe unexpected behaviour, its advice is to contact your Customer Success Manager.

Fuse view: an optional check for affected journeys

If your team uses segments built only with the ‘Users with no apps’ filter, an optional review can help you understand where the update applies. Check which active campaigns or Canvas steps use that segment and which channels they send through. You can then account for any change in sends or progression in your regular reporting.

This is Fuse’s operational suggestion. Braze has not requested an audit or set a customer action deadline.

Source and supporting documentation

The source of the launch date and the two changes is Braze’s customer email, ‘Upcoming changes to Users in App segmentation behavior’, sent on 10 September 2026. This announcement was sent directly to customers.

The email links to Messaging Diagnostics Dashboard documentation to explain the troubleshooting tool. That documentation is supporting background. It is not the source of the release announcement or a requirement to take action.
